Blogger
You can sign up for your own Blogger account at http://www.blogger.com/. Within blogger you can use gadgets to bring in material from other Web2.0 sites. You can see on my site (http://sonjasprague.blogspot.com/) I brought in youtube videos by simple terms of “educational technology”. Good thing is it automatically brings in videos. Bad thing is, you never know what the videos are going to be. I also have used it to create websites for other people recently. Example: JoCaine at http://jocainemusic.blogspot.com/.
I know this site is for a musician, but the gadgets used in his site are the same ones that can be used for education. Linking the blog to facebook using a facebook badge, linking emails, slideshows using his Picasa album, multiple pages adding updated posts easily and linking updates directly to twitter and facebook. All of these can be used for an educational purpose.
My blog was originally created for my Mulitmedia Savvy pd class. The students loved being able to look at the assignments as I posted them prior to class and for review. It allows images, videos, html codes, along with editing with cloud tools or by html codes. There are many design templates available for free to download and install.
I then turned the blog into my personal professional portfolio for my position with the school. Now I have weaved the Educational Media and Design assignments.
Sunny Trees Photography is my hobby that pays for itself. I have found the blog style worked best for consistently updating, http://www.sunnytreesphotography.com/. I commonly post how – to tips and my articles to my site.
By far Blogger is my most used Web 2.0 tool.
